The vehicle is a new coach built Vauxhall Movano with a 1.4 tonne payload which has the capacity to carry 2 large horses without exceeding the weight limit.

The horsebox has the following features:

- Horses travel rear facing (research has shown that horses travel better backwards)
- 8ft head room
- Rubber floor matting
- Light and airy with 3 opening windows and roof vent
- Stalled for 2 but removable partition
- Internal camera to monitor horses journey
- Low floor chassis which means low centre of gravity and higher levels of stability
- Low, wide ramp making loading less daunting for a horse
- Quick release safety ties
- Groom area for tack and "kit"
- Separate first aid kits for humans and horses
- 6kg fire extinguisher

Mare and foal transport

The vehicle has protective matting fitted to the internal walls but mare and foal transport will also include:

- removal of central partition
- bedding for foals under 4 months
- soft pad fitted to rampside to protect foal from anti slip bar and ramp surface


The vehicle is checked and disinfected with Steri-7 Equine after each and every trip.
